The Magic of Positive Thinking

Have you noticed that if you wake up in a bad mood, you tend to stay in that bad mood for the rest of the day, and not only that, bad things happen - a parking ticket, a late train, an angry client - that simply reinforce your bad mood and make it worse? Your thoughts become full of doom and gloom, spiralling out of control and the whole day is lost in a fog of negativity. You snap at your loved ones and argue with colleagues. Annoying people seem to be everywhere! You end up going to bed in a foul mood and risk repeating the pattern the following day. This is a classic case of the law of attraction - your negative thoughts and moods attract more negativity and negative people. It always works, as if by magic!

It stands to reason then that positive thoughts and feelings will attract positive events, experiences and people. It really is magic. You have probably had days when everything seemed to go right and perhaps if you look back on such an example you'll recall being in a good mood from the outset, that you were happy and interacted with everyone in a happy and relaxed way. The positive energy you were sending out into the world was coming back to you ten-fold. And that is magic too - you receive more positivity than you originally sent out.

So, how do you create the magic of positive thinking? Well, you need to be consciously aware of your thoughts rather than just let them wash over you. Remember, you control your thoughts - you and only you create the thoughts in your head. So you are in control of whether those thoughts are positive or negative. As soon as a negative thought appears, stop it from progressing and growing and replace it with a positive statement. It will feel strange at first because for many of us, negative thinking has become a habit. However, habits can be broken!

You might find it helpful in the beginning of this change to avoid negative people as much as you can. Negative people, as you know, send out negative energy and it can be infectious, putting negative thoughts into our heads which then lead onto negative feelings. While you are changing your habit of negative thinking patterns, you need to help yourself in whatever means is necessary. So if that means avoiding your complaining neighbour or critical "friend" then do so.

The magic of positive thinking will soon begin to have its affects on you. You will start to feel more enthusiastic about life, you'll gain more energy. You'll find that you can handle stressful or challenging situations far more easily. Positive thinking is very beneficial for the health as positive thoughts minimize stress because, as you know, negative thoughts can be very stressful. Positive thinking can lower your blood pressure, stop you getting a stomach ulcer and suffering from many other stress-related ailments. In this respect, it seems crazy to not think positively!

Another magical thing about positive thinking is that it helps you to see opportunities rather than simply problems. The saying "when one door closes another opens" is very true and when we think about situations in a positive way, we see a whole host of opportunities before us. And if you are positive, you are more likely to grasp opportunities and follow your goals.
